How does Acyclovir work?
Acyclovir medication works by inhibiting the enzymes that the virus needs for replication of DNA in cells. By denying the virus the means that it needs to multiply, Acyclovir can quickly stop the spreading of the symptoms much quicker than your bodies natural defences would be able to. After buying Acyclovir and starting the treatment course, the rash and sores associated with Herpes viruses will seize up and crust over within a few days. It is important to note that even though the symptoms may completely disappear before the treatment ends, you should always finish the full course at this helps to prevent further outbreaks occurring.
Acyclovir tablets are generally taken between 2 to 5 times a day, depending on the severity of the outbreak. You may need to take your dosage of Acyclovir medication for up to 12 months for genital herpes treatment, starting as soon as your symptoms begin to appear, as this increases the effectiveness of the medication.
