In the more recent times, green tea is being touted as the next best weight loss product. In order to lay the rumours to rest, the consumerunderground.com team investigated the issue for some concrete answers.
As has been said before, tea marketing companies have routinely made tall claims that that their tea comes with the ability to increase energy, induce weight loss, prevent certain cancers, aid in anti-aging, stop certain neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, and burn fat among others. The investigation should be able to give us some tangible answers.
A New York City nutritionist, Joy Bauer, has suggested that the catechins in green tea are responsible for increasing the levels of norepinephrine (noradrenaline), an active brain chemical that is released when there is a boost in metabolism.
To further strengthen this suggestion, an experiment was undertaken with three women as primary subjects. Ranging in height and weight, each woman was made to drink a different weight loss tea for 30 days. Each of the women drank 2 cups of tea a day and in addition, continued with their habitual diet and exercise routines. Each of the women was weighed in before starting the experiment and subsequently after 30 days.
Despite the fact that not a single of these women reported any sensational disease cures, one of them did report that she felt an increased brain activity at work, which she believed was from drinking the tea. Moreover, all the three women stated that they had some weight loss, which was a very positive sign. Therefore, based on these reports, it can be safely concluded that drinking green tea products resulted in adequate weight loss. Hence, it can be safely concluded that drinking green tea should be a part of every individuals well rounded fitness program.
In addition, staying away from snacking should also aid in weight loss.
