Women who were complaining that their sexual problems are not given same amount of attention as male sexual problems, will now have reason to rejoice. The issue of female sexual dysfunction is finally getting some attention and healthcare professionals from all over the world consider it a big problem.
The Congress of the European Society for Sexual Medicine
In the 10th Congress of the European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM) held in Lisbon recently, wide varieties of sexual issues were discussed. A grand total of 2,132 specialists representing 43 countries attended this conference where the topic of FSD was tackled.
Female Sexual Dysfunction in the Past
Sexual Health Congress is held every year to discuss the future of medicines for sexual problems. The difference between the congress meetings held earlier and this year is that the main theme discussed this year was female sexual dysfunction. Until some years back, male sexual dysfunctions like ED (erectile dysfunction) was the only issue dealt with and discussed in the congress meetings and little or no attention was paid to female sexual dysfunction. This time however, female sexual dysfunction and the importance of a couple as a unit were discussed in a number of sessions.
Treatments for Female Sexual Dysfunction
Women can finally heave a sigh of relief as female sexual dysfunction is now a well-recognized issue and they will soon get better treatments. This year two good things happened for women, the first one was Intrinsa, the latest female sexual dysfunction treatment and the second was the change in attitude at ESSM. Way to go women, have a happy 2008!
