The Maryland US Attorney’s office has sentenced a Jordanian national to four years federal imprisonment for trafficking fake Viagra pills. His name is Iyad Dogmosh. He was caught trafficking in thousands of fake Viagra pills that were imported from Egypt and stored in Glen Burnie.
He admitted to have kept a suitcase containing more than 36,000 fake Viagra tablets at a storage facility in Glen Burnie. He also admitted to have sold about 2000 fake Viagra pills in 2006.
During the tests conducted by the federal FDA, it was found that these pills were of the same size, shape, and color as original Viagra pills. But these fake pills did not contain sildenafil citrate that is the main ingredient in an original Viagra pill.
These fake pills contained metronidazole as their ingredient. This ingredient can cause serious health problems especially when combined with alcohol resulting in nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and headaches.
What is Viagra?
Viagra is an oral treatment drug for male impotence that is also known as erectile dysfunction. Viagra is manufactured by Pfizer. It was approved for the first time in 1998 and in its first year resulted in huge profits for its manufacturer.
The main ingredient in Viagra is sildenafil citrate that works to regulate blood circulation in and around areas of penis. Due to smooth blood circulation, nerves and arteries of the penis get relaxed and result in its erection. But erection happens only in the presence of sexual stimulation as Viagra is not a sex enhancer.
Viagra is available in dosages of 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg tablets. The effects of Viagra become visible within 40 minutes to one hour after taking its one recommended dosage and last for about four hours. So, it gives ample time for men to find their right moment for love making.
Although an effective drug, Viagra can have some side effects. Some of the common side effects include facial flushing, headache, and upset stomach. But these side effects do not cause any serious trouble.
There are some contraindications of Viagra. Therefore, a consultation with a doctor always proves beneficial. Men who have heart or liver problems should avoid Viagra. Those who’ve had a recent stroke or heart attack should also not take Viagra. This drug may not suit men with low blood pressure problems.
Viagra completed a decade in the market recently. During this time, this drug has helped millions of men with impotence problems. But men who need a Viagra pill should be extra watchful as there have been many cases of fake Viagra. Obtaining fake Viagra pills will not prove helpful in impotence treatment but instead aggravate it or cause other adverse effects.
