Sanofi Aventis has released detailed results from its clinical trials providing evidence in support of the effectiveness for branded Acomplia. Over 6,600 overweight or obese patients enrolled in the Rimonabant In Obesity (RIO) program exploring the effect of Acomplia on obesity management.

The most relevant results drawn from the two year North American section of this study include patients on the 20mg dose of Acomplia lost significantly higher amount of there body weight compared to the lower-dosage and the placebo group.
