More needs to be done to help Americans quit smoking

New figures have revealed that the amount of people in America who are smoking hasn’t dropped for another year.

The percentage of smokers in the USA has remained at around 21% for the last five years, and is showing no signs of dropping. Health experts have called for increased smoking cessation efforts to be introduced, to help people kick the habit.

The figures came from a report released by the Centers for Disease Control, which showed that the amount of people quitting in the US has dramatically stalled. The rates of quitting dropped significantly from the years 2000 to 2005, but from 2005 to 2009 the rates have pretty much stayed the same.
